COVID-19 Travel Review and Approval Process

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all University-sponsored travel must be reviewed through the established processes, for both domestic and international travel, with a minimum of 3 weeks' notice. If you must travel, you must obtain a waiver.

Country Risk Levels

The country risk levels described below refer to security risks that, for the most part, pre-date the COVID-19 pandemic. All international travel is subject to approval for the foreseeable future. Extreme risk and elevated risk countries are subject to additional review and approval.

U.S. Government Travel Advisories

On August 6, 2020, the U.S. Department of State rescinded the Global Level 4 Health Advisory. The Department of State is now back to publishing individual Travel Advisory levels based on local travel conditions, including the country-specific COVID-19 situation.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has also transitioned away from a global pandemic notice and will issue country-specific COVID-19 Travel Health Notices.
